It's time to make some TUTORIALS!

So…how many of you know that DD has a tutorials section? If you’ve happened to hit that little button near the top of the page at any point, you probably found something more than a little embarrassing…

2013? Yikes.

Genejoke recently had the excellent idea that the tutorials section should be re-invigorated. Obviously the world of webcomics has developed and so we could definitely use some new tutorials using up-to-date software, more active resources, and so on. But I would venture to say that almost anyone on the site has something to offer: how do you write your characters? Colouring? Inking? Planning layouts? etc. Have at it!

Myself and the other admins are pretty busy with what we’re already doing to contribute much to this (not to say that we won’t in the future), but if anyone wanted to incorporated advice from newsposts, quackcasts, etc., into tutorials, that would be more than fine!

If you want to discuss tutorials further, Genejoke has started a thread here: http://www.theduckwebcomics.com/forum/topic/177488/

Have a comic milestone, a community project or some comic-related news that you'd like to see here? Do you have original art for our newspost image database? Send it to me via PQ or at hippievannews(at)gmail.com, or leave a comment below!

Correction: *Some* of the tutorials suffer from broken images.

My first thoughts were along the lines of Bravo's: With the exception of software-specific tutorials, art tutorials dont really expire. Unfortunately, these tutorials are also *broken*. All of their images have been lost on one of The Duck's crashes and they really do need to be replaced. (Or at least the art in them does. There's no reason in many cases that we couldn't carry over the existing text).

I hate to say this but we may be re-inventing the wheel here. Though dated many of the tutorials are still relevant and accurate. Only change those that are truly outdated. The ones on the first page all still work.

I made a Tutorial for Sprite Comics ages ago; if people are interested, I'll be happy to put it here.

What are your strengths? Play to those when doing a tutorial.

I am all up for it! I just need ideas of what to do tutorial about. I've never done one before because no ones ever asked for me to teach them anything about drawings. But I'd love to do one! :)

I did tutorials back in the day. It's not easy because the system often makes text super huge for some reason. you have to keep on going back and fixing the formatting- it's a nightmare... It depends where text is copied and pasted from though. But formatting IS a pain however you do it. It takes getting used to. -but if you guys are really serious about it Ashtree and Mika I could give you whatever forum management admin powers are available to help you. :)

I'd love to try and help out with that, but I'm not even sure what I can do to help. or what kind of tutorials to do. LOL then again I'm not very active enough in forums for anyone to know who I am. so I wouldn't know what tutorial to do.

I'm down to help out, maybe make my own in Photoshop..maybe hahaha but I can certainly help compile some good quackcasts/forum discussions!
