FRIDAY NEWSPOST - Comic creating on the go

I'm away from home at the moment, staying in a small apartment while I take a summer course at a university across the country. I packed the most ridiculously huge bag, but even in the world's tiniest apartment it's kind of amazing how little it amounted to when unpacked. Neither my tablet nor my scanner, for instance, made the cut.

It can be tough to do any kind of work, nevermind keeping a consistent art style, when you're travelling and you don't have access to all your stuff. The hardest thing to live without, of course, is an internet connection. Back when I still had a webcomic, over the summer I would have to sit scrunched up into a corner of our little cabin where I could just barely pick up someone's wi-fi signal.

Have you ever had to update your comic on the go? What are your essential tools that always come with you when you travel? Can you make a whole page with nothing but paper and a black pen (as I tried to do for the graphic above), or do you just skip it when you can't have a whole host of materials? Let me know in the comments!

Excelent Idea for a post! I use my Samsung Note tablet. Nothing better for digital art!

I recently did a whole set of sketches and color tests with my smartphone. I drew the rough sketches in a notebook with a pen, took a picture and colored them with an app called PicsArt. It's really easy to work on the real thing when you have a colored sketch, almost like tracing.

Usually, when I travel, or am simply unable to take my time to draw a page as I usually would, I'd just draw thumbnails, or figure out dialogue, story structure, things like that. - Also, you seem to be using your space very efficiently :)
