Here's page 5 of Fusion #5 and the first on-screen (more or less) transformation. From panel 1 to 2, there's a flash of light, but that's pretty much it.
jamoecw--My physics may be messed up (and I know String Theory is only theoretical) but the clothes are technically dimensional dopplegangers (see Crossoverkill for lots of examples of dopplegangers). Bob changes the "vibrations" of the subatomic "strings" of her clothes to make one set fade out of her dimension and another set fade in. The flash is just an energy discharge from the dimensional shift (which also can wash out surveillance, as you point out). As for her being nude for a nanosecond . . . Since we're talking about subatomic dimensional shifts, there's lots of empty space at the subatomic level, so perhaps the two sets of clothes just vibrate through each other (kind of like dual sieves).
if i understand the transformation, there are two sets of clothes, and since two objects can't occupy the same space without dire consequences, either her fusion costume is skin tight to form under her clothes before they disappear, or there is a split microsecond in which she is nude. if the second is the case, then the flash of light is so that any sort of surveillance is washed out during said time.
For everyone asking technical questions (or making technical observations), I think I'll have a Q&A where you all will be able to ask Bob questions. (This might run between issues 5 and 6.) I'll have more details later. In the meantime, feel free to keep asking questions, and I'll do my best to answer them.
Tssha--Her eyesight is fine now and she doesn't need glasses. Her powers (with some guidance from Bob) corrected her vision (sort of fusion-based lasek).
smkinoshita--Her glasses didn't get vaporized, although they really aren't her real glasses any more (and haven't been since she became Fusion--same thing goes for her clothes). As Bob's explained it to me, it all comes down to some String Theory and the way Bob works. Her clothes (and glasses) are made of an atomically simplified substance (that looks and feels like clothes) that Bob can tweak by plucking their subatomic "strings" and changing their subatomic vibrations, thus changing their "dimensional reality" (again, Bob's words). Basically, Fusion's suit and Savunn's clothes exist in different dimensional realities vibrating at certain frequencies. By plucking the subatomic "strings" and changing the "frequency" that her outfit vibrates at, Bob phases one outfit out of Savunn's reality and phases in the other outfit. (Bob and his kind can also change their vibrational frequencies, which is how they travel across dimensions.)
You know what this reminds me of?

This remebers me of the beetlejuice cartoon.

You know, I realize it's completely unrelated, but all I can think about is Roger Smith shouting "Big O Its Showtime".

Huh, and here I assume the glasses were just tranformed into her mask :-P

Who designed the costume, Bob or Savunn?

so did she do that in full view of everyone, or was she behind a building or something?

@CoolClayTony: You just made my day. Although I hope she didn't vaporize her glasses, those things are expensive.
