Be sure to check back in September to see all the winners. And if you or any of your readers wish to volunteer in the presenting and judging please feel free to let me know in this thread!
Again way to go and thank you for producing a fan favorite comic for so many to enjoy!
And good luck in the finals!
Wait, wait. This was a great story, but it may benefit from just one more page, a sort of a conclusion or a coda. Kazimeiras strikes me as a sort of character who would learn and grow from this experience and IMHO it needs to be acknowledged somehow... This way, you are leaving it all for the readers to imagine, and that is not best writing practice, even though it may be some kind of a statement.
Anyway, a great job overall, give as a cherry on top, OK?
Dear Kristen,
Just caught up on 12 pages. You have a very powerful story going on! I get the feeling this is a true story. In fact, I think you played a part in it or have a close relative who did. Yours a reminder to everone how precious Freedom is!

I feel like I drove off a cliff. It's the end? Oh, you want us to actually use our brains to think what happens next? If I ever get my paypal set up, or if I get a credit card sometime, I'll have to buy a physical copy of The Optimist (if that's what you plan on doing)
Supremely Excellent!! Great job! :D
*Finish Line*
OMG LAST PAGE?? Noooooooo! Wow, what an ending! I agree with Amanda, Kaz is better off without St Kazimieras. Also, can't wait for the hard copy, so buying one!
Sorry about your sister's car, maybe now her bad luck has run out she'll start having good luck?
Nice ending! It is a little abrupt and doesn't really answer all the questions the readers will have, but it leaves it really open for you if you wanted to do a follow on story for it. You could go into what happens to Kaz later on in life, or something. (I'd certainly read it if you did)
Anyway, if this comic gets published I'm so buying it lol I love it! Can't wait to see the new cover image too! Also, good luck with all your future projects! :)
And I'm sorry about your sister's car, too :(
Strange, they have got rid of what seemed to be the biggest problem in their lives at the beginning of the comic. But that that this problems gone they both have no direction/hope to look toward...
say, I was just thinking, this comic is uner 50 pages, its very interesting/artistic. Maybe you should enter it into the Kodansha international competition- they always choose substance over prettyness, I think this would have a good chance :)
I hope you will print many copies of this, cos I really want one, if only so that I can show my friends how awesome it is ;_;
Interesting ending indeed, very bitter :(
Your poor sister, hopefully karma will be good to her after all her crappy luck. Wow is your sister an artist too? I wouldnt say artist have more suffering, its more like they are OTT and emotional so make a bigger deal out of lifes problems ;)
