Putt'n on the ritz

Page Description:
All the nobs and toffs chatting away during the party, discussing business and pleasure. Quite where you fit a room for a swank party on a normal battleship is a bit tricky to figure out, but it CAN be done. In this case the Buccaneer has a proper room dedicated to just such a purpose: Its very own ballroom!
Commentary:
Even though I’d had lots of pages already drawn at this stage, almost all of the pages for “the party†sequence were drawn in the weeks I was posting them. I drew this one while visiting a friend in her office at the art faculty at of my old university. It didn’t take that long, but the colouring did. I went WAY over time with the colouring here. Crowd scenes are a pain in the arse, but I got to play around with period costumes and hairstyles which was fun and really one of the main points of the whole party episode.
No one would normally wear Jodhpurs as part of their dressing up clothes in the 20’s, but I like the look, so I made them wear it, ok? In the 20’s men’s evening dress was still “white tie, top-hat and tailsâ€, but it was gradually moving to the more casual modern tuxedo.
The soundtrack to these drawings was the likes of Gershwin and Irving Berlin. ^_^
A note:
I've decided to upload one page a day until I catch up with the main site. Just because I like to write about these pages and it's really hard to do that when I upload 10 at a go, (which I hate doing). Meanwhile, if you want to see the latest, just click the “Main site†link.

Wow. More like a high school banter than a party aboard a ship's captain party.

Yeah, I sill always think it's 1927 for some reason. I don't know why... Maybe I'll change it to 1927 anyway one of these days.

Gah! 1923! That's what I meant... *cough*

This was the first Pinky TA strip I ever saw... You had me at first glance at those party lanterns. I still think they're beautiful. I believe I made a comment about the 30's look of the party, then went back to read that this is set in 1927. Oops, hehe.
