***THIS JUST IN:***
Ahhh I got featured! :D I still elated and all shaky :) I didn't believe it'd happen. Deep down, I dreamed of it, but given my biweekly update schedule, I didn't think I stood a chance. So you can imagine my surprise! I still can't believe it. And I'm so happy to see my friends here with me today - and some new faces, too :) Thank you all for stopping by and for all the support - and to the Admins for noticing my little comic! :D I'm happy and humbled by all this! As a thank you to all of you there will be a new episode very soon, hopefully this week, so watch this space! :D
AND NOW BACK TO MY USUAL BIWEEKLY RANT ;)
A new page up earlier than usual! Go me! :D It's a splash page, and one with a very simple background at that, so it went MUCH faster. Took only two days to do. BUT it was a challenge nevertheless. To make one of my rodents look as realistically as I can… (I wonder if the theory Abt mentioned last time still applies…) I took it more seriously this time, too. I usually google all my reference photos. This time I took some pics of myself in different poses. I wanted to get the anatomy, the shadows and all the wrinkles on the fabrics right.
Fun fact: I have a t-shirt and pants just like Mick. Same colors :) However, I didn't model Mick's clothes after mine. I didn't have the t-shirt nor the pants back then. Back in May, when it all started, I was still in my All-Black stage that had been going on for the past ten years. Then one day I went shopping and thought: what the heck, time for a little change! So I bought myself blue jeans and a green t-shirt. And then the shopping frenzy began! ;) Though only now did I realize I need a red hoodie to look like Ryan. Oh and I would have to find my old converse sneakers!
But I digress…
So anyway… Thus ends chapter 4. For those worried about Mick - never fear, he'll be alright :) Bruised, with a black eye, possibly a bunch of fractures - but that never affects cartoons ;) So next time you see him, he'll be as good as new. And in case of any ambiguity here, that might have arisen from my previous rant - the different kind of story I'm going to give you next is not a new comic. Just a new chapter of the good ol' A Bit Cheesy :) With a little bow towards a different kind of narrative. A one-time experiment, that's all. A bit of fresh air.
I hope everyone got their comment incentive last time. There will be an incentive for this page, too - but I'll have to choose what to give you this time, and right now I'm brain dead :) And lazy :P But I'll get to it! I've also neglected all my favorite comics, haven't read any since xmas! :-O So, so, soooo sorry, guys! Long story, involving bacteria, weather changes and carbon dioxide. The bottom line is, I haven't forgotten any of you and I can't wait to catch up with all your comics!
See you next time!

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Fitzy! You got FEATURED! Congrats and utterly deserved buddy! You are by the far the most improved (and still improving every second) artist I know here. Every page gets better!

Revan: Happy to see you stop by! :) Gotta love comics about cute furry pets, no? Trevor: I almost missed that myself :) But that morning I went to the main page and saw it. And was like "WHOA!" for a couple of minutes. Kyupol: Maraming salamat! :) (Yeah I know a thing or two in Tagalog) TwistedRabbit: A couple more pages and you'll get featured, too :) Ersatz: It doesn't look much nastier than the actual reference photo, actually. Which is creepy, just creepy. Jeff: Hahaha I'm hardly a stud these days. I used to work out a lot, but I switched to writing and drawing entirely. And now that I got my five minutes of fame and glory, I guess I'll be drawing even more.
Coyotejeff at 3:52PM, Jan. 15, 2008
Dude! Congrats! There you were! Right there on the Home Page! Featured! You Stud! You Deserved it for sure.
Ersatz at 11:54AM, Jan. 15, 2008
Wow! That black eye looks naaaaaasssstyyyyyyyyyy!! Excellent work with being featured my friend, much deserved! :)
twistedrabbit at 11:20PM, Jan. 14, 2008

kyupol at 9:46PM, Jan. 14, 2008

trevoramueller at 7:40PM, Jan. 14, 2008
Congrats on the feature! I totally missed that until just now...wow, I'm just too busy right now at work to be able to give other comics the time and attention that they deserve.
Priest_Revan at 7:21PM, Jan. 14, 2008
Wonderful comic, dude. Just wonderful.
Fitz at 1:39PM, Jan. 14, 2008
Loud G: Thanks! I checked back and read your comments on the previous pages. Really liked the idea of them driving a car! Crifmer: Thank you! Hope you'll be here on Sunday/Monday for another update :) Bocaj: Squee! It's awesome :) Harry: I'm honored that such a pro as yourself likes my comic D0m: Funny, I could've sworn Nadya was featured long ago, way back when I first joined, in the summer. I always considered it one of the big ones. So it was strange to see it only got featured last month.
harryq at 1:20PM, Jan. 14, 2008
Congrats, some more.
Bocaj at 11:20AM, Jan. 14, 2008
YOU WERE FREAKIN' FEATURED!!!! THAT IS AWESOME!!!!! You deserve it!
crifmer at 11:05AM, Jan. 14, 2008
This comic is awesome. I *love* the artwork. Faved.
Loud_G at 11:00AM, Jan. 14, 2008
Great job with this page, and a big Congrats for the feature! :D
Fitz at 9:01AM, Jan. 14, 2008
Dawn: The pants took a while to get right, but the t-shirt was pure pleasure to do, and I think it looks more realistic, too. Nepath: I love this page, too. Now I need to make a similar one of Ryan. I already have an idea! :D Nibbi: Every chapter has a different color palette, but yeah, I couldn't wait to use the green one. Those were some of the trippiest pages so far. Bocaj: That's the point, actually. When I lay out a page, I consider how to prolong the reveal for maximum effect. So, sometimes I have to make a big object small enough so that it's not immediately visible when you open the page. Glad to know it works :) Vickie: When I thought about it I realized he doesn't look seriously hurt. But I was too lazy to re-work the page to break his leg or add a few galons of blood ;) Amy: I really enjoy drawing shoes. Maybe I should design footwear? Hmm... Nah, I'll stick to the comic :) And I think a wallpaper out of this page wouldn't be such a bad idea either! Hmm! I'll give it some though and see what I can come up with! Midge: I'm happy you like this one. I learned a bit while working on the previous page, especially the fabric wrinkles. Allen: There was more emphasis on the art and less dialogue in the past few pages, but I'm happy with Mick's line in this one. Sums it up well and makes a point. However controversial it sounds :) And the colors is what makes working on this comic so enjoyable! BLNTmaker: But just like love, a feature can make you dizzy ;) I'm happy my comic's getting so much love and I hope I can keep my readers entertained with future installments :) Skullbie: Thanks! Nice meeting you, hope you'll stick around :) Abt: It's actually purple. In Polish we call a black eye a "plum", so the direct conotation is the color purple - though it comes in so many different colors! And do I get some golden club membership card? LOL! Shin: No problem, I remember your puter was giving you trouble, then there was the accident... :( And I understand what the lack of time is, I'm so far behind on all my favorites myself that it's not even funny :\ Btw, hope to see more of D01 soon! Sims2fanatic: As I mentioned somewhere earlier, I kind of picture it as a cartoon. So the backgrounds are painted in a realistic way while the main characters are drawn. And I came up with the "wandering camer" and all the other gimmicks so as to avoid making a talking heads comic. I actually like those, it's just that I wanted to make something different :) Keith: Nope, I don't recall being featured before ;) Hahaha! And I still think I'm the slowest updater to ever get featured. I think Nepath got featured way in the beginning when he hit 17 pages, too, but he's updating way more often than me. And I'm soooooooooooo sorry for being so far behind on Killing Tree! And I never got the chance to say I love Whore! Tantz: It's kind of difficult to look at since it's upside down - and not only I think that - but it has to be that way so that the black eye is at the bottom of the page. I also had an idea to make this page horizontal, but eventually decided to stick the usual :) Trevor: I'm still sticking to cel-shading them. I just wanted to give you some eye candy for the splash page. The regular pages take long enough to do as it is, so I have to make compromise here and there between ambition and deadlines :) But of course you can expect more soft-shaded full-page portraits of the rodents! :)
trevoramueller at 8:10AM, Jan. 14, 2008
When colored like the rest of the environment, the characters look great. Granted, previously when you've colored them using a different technique and color scheme, they really stood out - and perhaps that was the intention. This page, though, really stands out in my mind because it shows the characters up close (something not done previously), and shows them shaded the same as the background (the dark green colors). Absolutely FANTASTIC!
Tantz_Aerine at 7:54AM, Jan. 14, 2008
Excellent page, this one. I think it works so well that it is a splash page but starting with the little guy's feet! Excellent palette as well ;) And congratulations on your feature :)
antcomics at 7:36AM, Jan. 14, 2008
CONGRATS on the LONG overdue feature !!!!! More exclamation points!!!!!! AAAA!! I'm so happy for you.
dueeast at 7:35AM, Jan. 14, 2008
Congrats on the feature! It is deserved. :)
TheMidge28 at 6:53AM, Jan. 14, 2008
congrats on the feature...and for getting another comment out of me!
keithmccleary at 6:11AM, Jan. 14, 2008
Wait...you mean you hadn't been featured yet?? Took long enough :) ! Congrats!
sims2fanatic at 5:31AM, Jan. 14, 2008
Just found your comic this morning. Can't tell you how impressed I am about how you manage to get in every emotion of what these guys are talking about and rarely even show their body. It's kind of odd that you detail almost everything here while leaving their faces so simplistic, but I like it. Definately going to keep my eye on this.
ShinGen at 2:26AM, Jan. 14, 2008
Woo hoo! Congrats on the feature man and sorry for not dropping by for such a long time, been busy lately. Anyways keep up the good work man. This page looks beautiful1
