What is the policy of drunkduck.com on the following?

1) Nudity//pornography
- Is it ok to put orgy, rape, bdsm, voreaphilia (animals eating each other or getting swallowed alive), necrophilia (sex with dead people), pedophilia (aka child porn) and all the other weird sexual fetishes?

2) Violence
- Are there any limits to what kind of violence you can put? Could it be “Passion of Christ” or “Texas Chainsaw” level violence?

3) Hate
- Are you allowed to put comics that directly attack any group of people based on religion, gender, race, political inclination, sexual orientation, etc?

I don't make the rules around here, but I can give this a common-sense shot. Remember however that DD is NOT a publicly-owned site, and if there is content that the admins or Volte don't want on DD, we are in every way entitled to get rid of it. :) I assume you are just asking about this stuff out of curiosity though.

Remember that this is a webcomics hosting site, so any of these topics would have to be within the context of a webcomic. I would assume that any of these things are okay so long as they are in a comic, and it's marked “adult” (and any other strong warnings you might think are appropriate). I would also say though that DD does not want to host any illegal content. Anything illegal act is a candidate for removal - such as showing any actual child pornography. I don't know about drawn pedophilic stuff like lolikon or toddlerkon or whatever, but remember that looking at even drawn stuff like that in Great Britain is illegal.

2) Violence

Fine if marked adult and in the context of a comic. We've had some pretty violent comics here in the day. (We've also probably had some pretty sexual ones as well.)

3) Hate

For some of those, I doubt it. Hate crimes are illegal, and so far as I know, so is directly attacking anyone of a protected social group. I know there are free speech issues in there, but if someone is directly attacking a group like that, you may be creating more trouble than would balance out your right to say what you want. I don't think DD would want to be a party (even a passive one) to a webcomic about how black people are inferior, etc. Other issues such as politics or religion might be a bit more acceptable, but I don't think a comic called “Kill All Jews” would go over well either.

Yeah, the common sense approach works well. The admins are artists too and if anyone's going to sympathize with you about freedom of speech and artistic creativity, it's fellow artists.

But Drunk Duck is all about creating a friendly and welcoming community that all artists on the Internet can enjoy. Posting hate material is only counter productive to that cause so unless there's a legitimate reason for posting such materials then we have a problem.

Sex and violence hasn't generally been a problem in Drunk Duck. All we would do is change your comic category to adult if we find mature themes being used.
