Comic Talk and General Discussion *
So Drunkduck is putting porn ads under our comics now?

I know everyones sick of ‘whats platinum doing wrong now’ threads, and I'm not one to start them, but this just irked me:
I've noticed this Girls gone wild ad(which is porn) is shuffled underneath the Teen+ and E rated comics here.
-It's in between the comic and the next/last button. Everyones gonna see it.
I thinks that's going to far, not only is that ad not in the users license agreement previous to the site change(which tons of users added there comic before)- but there are younger viewers to comics who might click that thing, and who knows what their parents will think of your comic if it has raunchy ads on it.
I'm not one to bash porn, I luvs it personally, But man I don't want it on E+ or my own T+ comics. -_- (I know family's who take that very seriously)
Am I'm being to anal about this or do you agree?

I'm not going to say it's the worst thing I've ever seen.
Quite frankly, there's always going to be someone offended by anything. ( I've gotten some nasty letters myself. Go figure. ) I personally will allow most things on my page since most of my readers are mature enough to handle it. Although I will agree that perhaps girls gone wild might be in a bit of an off taste for the E and T+ comics. But it's what pays the DrunkDuck costs and it's not exactly like there's the capability to set specific ads for each class of comic right now.
For all I know the ad wasn't even approved by anyone, they just bought space on the site and nobody had time to notice it and block it or anything.

Pretty much all of the ads on DD right now, I hate.
I mean, there's an ad for a gay dating site.
Whenever I get adblock, it messes up DD.
-.-;;

I'm not really around much anymore, but here's my Tumblr, Twitter, and Deviantart. Also if you remember me from back when I was around, I'm sorry.

I'm not too happy about seeing the ads all over my pages either.

The ads all come through a third-party place so Platinum doesn't get to approve them before they go out or anything. However once we've identified a problem ad, they can go and have it omitted. :) We've brought the ad to Volte's attention so hopefully it will go away soon.

Yeah, they should probably get a few people to review ads before they go public.

I think it's purely reactionary on the part of the ones displaying the ads, rather than pre-screening them prior to showing them.

skoolmunkeeAwesome! ^^ Yea I didn't really think this place would willingly have porn ads around, but who knows what will happen on the next addition of hot pre-teen coed comic fun on: “Drunk Ducks Gone Wild!: hosted by SnoopMod!”

Yeah, I'm not happy about that at all. I've had some complaints from readers this morning. Hopefully they can nip that in the butt– if that keeps up we might have to more our archives to our own host. Drunk Duck is starting to look like Times Square with all the ads flashing around.– But I guess the bills have to be paid! I just think there are better ways to do that– I know some ad networks have filters and stuff– if this one didn't I wouldn't use them.

Well I guess they COULD go the the merch route and open a drunkduck store. I'd buy a duck plushie wouldn't you? It'd reduce the amount of advertising needed at least.

I contacted them this morning about this, and the ad has been taken out of rotation.
The problem is, they use different ad networks and some ad networks don't let you control the content, some do– and this one had that stuck in there so they had to track it down an have it removed. Crisis averted! :D

Hey DJ, I hate to be an idiom nazi, but I think that goes “Nip that in the bud”. Unless you meant that as a clever pun. The only reason I even mention it is because as a pun it's genius, and I just wanted clarification.
Oh yeah, I still saw that porn at around 12:30 CST. Guuuuys

I think that's kinda screwed up but I didn't even notice so I don't think it's a huge issue or anything.

skoolmunkeelol… I didn't even blink when I saw it, but then again, I have an M-rated comic. Frankly, I'd much rather have a GGW ad under my comic than some of the other things I've seen. …Like that stupid Ben Stein movie. (I actually wrote an email of protest about that!)

It's too bad you guys don't have a system that would allow a more adult ad rotation for mature comics. I really don't care what's down there, as long as it's not overtly political.

I never notice any of the ads on the site, I just kind of… phase them out. But kudos for getting rid of that one.
Not that it isn't easy for kids to get access to porn online anyway… but at least DD won't have any part of it XD

The times square analogy's going a bit far but this new layout does seem to show off the ads a bit more.

i am amazed that so many people have something to say about this hahahaha
you know why birds don't write their memoirs? because birds don't lead epic lives, that's why. who'd want to read what a bird does? nobody. that's who.

Or writing a letter of protest about a Ben Stein movie nowhere near as controversial as anything Michael Moore has ever done…
