http://www.koji-honpo.co.jp/makeup/movie/eye_talk_300.html
my friend posted this on my facebook wall, saying “look what goddamn anime is driving my people to do!” and when I watched it… well I thought the girl's eyeball was gonna pop out.
what do you think about the whitification (heh I made that word up!) of the world?
I think it's depressing.

wow. Actually, I've seen something like this before. I heard there's a cheaper way to do it with tape? There's also eye-lid surgery to make it permanent. I just happen to be one of those asians that has eyelids anyway but I hear a lot of asian girls do this because they feel inadequate or unfeminine or something without them.

I dunno if you could apply that to wider eyes though .Afterall, Arab, Indian, Australian Aboriginal, and all African peoples have wide eyes too…

That looked gross, but it was interesting. It would suggest the reason for the eyelid shape is that the eyelids are thicker? With more fat inside them? Very interesting… Anthropologically I'd always suspected the “Asian” look (not just eyes) could have been partly influenced by an ancient adaptation too a colder weather environment, like you see in peoples of the Arctic.

It's interesting to think about what caused us to be different. But I agree that making us look all the same would be dull and depressing: the differences are beautiful.

Ick… I understand some people just want to look good and all, but this is kind of disturbing. All it'd take is one wrong move and someone could gouge their eyes out with this.

yeah, you're totally right; maybe “westernification”? I've read articles and stuff about Japanese women getting facial surgery to look more ‘white’, though. My friend Erika told me that in Japan, if you have a defined bridge on your nose, it's an indication of beauty. it's strange.

I liked her more without the wider eyes. She looked natural and quite pretty. With the makeup thing, she looked like something was wrong or she was constantly surprised.

Plus, she blinked too much. It can't be healthy to do that to your eyes.

I also believe that beauty is culturally defined as the least common features available in a social group that still conform with the basic harmony/balance patterns.

Yeah, I was waiting the whole video to see her blink. I've heard of surgery for that. I've also heard that in Japan you can get a surgery to make your belly button rounder and more symetrical, if you think it is too oval.

Does it make me a sick fuck for thinking that would be hilarious to watch?

I don't think so, but people often call me a sick fuck, so yes, probably.

I'm often amazed how far people will go to look ‘beautiful’, even as far as to do things that are extremely uncomfortable, or even painful. I really can't understand why someone would do such things to themselves. But then I don't seem to consider social acceptance as important as other people, so maybe I never will.
Hey buddy, you should be a Russian Cosmonaut, and here's why.

Make your belly button rounder? I've never even thought about being insecure about my belly button. Or eyelids.

Now I'm all worried. What other things have I not thought about being insecure about? Is my tongue the right shape? Can I get surgery to make my liver slightly smaller? I think it's too big. -/sarcasm-

That's a huge can of worms… There are specialists in “vaginal enhancement” who work on making things look “just right” -yep, just the external aesthetics, nothing internal and nasty.

But this is all nothing. What I think is really bad are those men who get fake muscles put inside them! Can you believe it? Stuff to make the chest and arms look “just right”. Breast enhancement is one thing, but breasts are mostly just for show really (outside childbirth), but pretend muscles? That's like having fake extra wheels on your car!

you know, cosmetic surgery people scare me…even if they look good, there's just something to them that “too perfect”. they're like dolls.

and you know when thye get older, they're gonna look like a fish. skin all wrinkly, but lips are pouty.

case in point:

i could see if they are horribly disfigured and then make them look normal

There's this British celebrity (can't remember his name, don't care either) who had a load of plastic surgery done, eventually I think someone buggered it up, and now he's got a huge top lip that he can't move at all. I thought he was woman at first, and I nearly died of shock when I discovered he was a bloke. (I didn't think he was a woman because of his lip, he just looked that way).

That's really kind of sad. ( if not insanely interesting to watch ) It's kind of fun the way people are always trying to enhance themselves. XD Too bad they always feel like they have to compete.

OMG YEAH!!! I saw him host a tv special about his malfunctioning surgeries!!!
but yeah, he was wearing a dress and had long blonde hair, which made it really surprising when he started to talk in a gruff man-voice. hahah.
but! he was the guy who sang that song, “you spin me right round baby right round” I think… or some other 80s song like that. o_O! My friends MADE me watch it… it was so gross!!! blegh!!! the whole show was like, “let's look at this guy's rashes, bruises, collapsed nose, lumpy collagen, etc!!” eww!!!!!!!!!!

that terrifies me. … … women have enough to worry about, without wondering how the nether-regions are looking.

although on the subject of general cosmetic surgery, I don't think it's all bad. For instance, if you're a wanted criminal, you should probably get a nose job and maybe some other facial alterations to protect your safety. (wow… it's 5:43 am, blame it on exhaustion, not faulty reasoning skills)
