Are Ninjas really that much cooler than Pirates?

Recently one of the comics I put out had ninja themed cameos in it. 6 if I remember correctly… There was no shortage of ninja themed comics from the search I did; 4 pages of ‘em. So I thought I’d go and see how many pirate themed comics there were…

From using DD's search engine, I only saw 2 pages worth of pirate comics… Hopefully it won't be too hard to do a pirate themed cameo comic… -_-

Then again, more ninjas couldn't hurt.

1)NO

2)Pirates are too complicated for the simplistic webcomic artist to grasp and therefore only a few chosen ones can do proper pirate comics.
Also, i made a a search and got 24 pages of pirates:

Well, ninjas are easier to do as cameos because they can always be lurking in shadows somewhere. Pirates always have to be near the sea to make sense and are really bad for cameos being loud and boisterous. I don't think one's cooler than the other though– I'm sure that mad scientists will be the next big thing.

Why are ninjas cooler than pirates? Well, I'll tell you what. Release a whole bunch of ninjas onto a pirate ship and see what happens.

Poor pirates won't know what hit 'em.

Wrong! Pirates don't only need water; haven't you heard of space pirates? They don't need water, have laser swords, and have mechanical parrots. How can you beat that? Well I guess you could have space ninjas…or space ninja pirates! Yeah, then we won't have to decide!

Ninjas are highly-trained, skilled assassins.
Pirates are just a bunch of lousy old thieves that sail for fail.

I guess that's a good point. As long as they can have a ship of some variety they can do their pirate thing.

Yeah, it seems to be more about what is easier to draw. With ninjas you can have them half hidden so you don't have to draw the body parts you suck at, and everyone assumes it's a part of their ‘mysterious nature’.

And personally, Johnny Depp has convinced me pirates are better than ninjas, but that's just my opinion

Also pirates have existed longer that ninjas and they continue to exist in this day and age in more ways than one way, since they only depend on the booty available.
All that's left on the shinobi is a bunch of old legends and relics, since they depended on work available.

Why can't we just end this debate for good, and have ninjirates?

Perhaps it's a matter of semantics. A ninja is a ninja. But a pirate is a rogue, a privateer, a buccaneer, a man of fortune… “Pirates” lurk in many stories and comics, but you might not recognize them as pirates. Piracy is a state of character and not necessarily existing within a certain setting. “Pirates” are characterized by ruthless free spirits, outside the realm of law. Han Solo is, in many respects, a pirate.

Ninjas, on the other hand, are better defined, and disciplined. When you see a ninja, you know he's a ninja and call him a ninja. However, a “pirate” search will not necessarily bring up every pirate.

~~~~~~~
That or the costumes. Ninjas are about 100,000,000 times easier to draw than pirates. Skin-tight solid black cat suits vs. layers of blousing shirts, jackets, buckles, piercings, patches, etc. The latter is more visually interesting, but the former can be drawn in any style or ability level quickly and easily.
I prefer bank robbers myself, old time ones. More accurate guns and weapons, faster getaway vehicles, New England accents, and imagine actually stealing from somewhere and spending the money instead of burying it.
Highway-men are best.
Also, in their natural elements, both pirates and ninjas are as deadly as each other. A ninja couldn't sneak up on a ship in the middle of the ocean, and a pirate couldn't fight a ninja on land.
It's a stupid, out-dated argument anyway.
Hey buddy, you should be a Russian Cosmonaut, and here's why.
Personally I think pirates are cooler. They have more personality, a greater range of skills, and actually talk. Not to mention that pirates get the girls (wenches), while the nija life is sadly solitary, or at best an all male pajama party. :D
“Are ninjas really that much cooler than pirates?” From what I can tell, the answer is obviously up in the air…or lurking in the shadows…or sailing the seven seas…
Personally I think pirates are the cooler of the two. I base this on the following reason.
Pirates are extremely skilled, even though they never train. Ninjas always seem to be training if they arent working. After all who ever heard of a working pirate?
So if pirates are skilled without the training, then imagine them if they put their minds to it :P
… plus they get the wenches and rum :D
