I got a lot of emails from Drunk Duck members last week asking about the old tutorial I wrote about hosting your own webcomic. I rewrote it with tons of screenshots and tips here: http://www.djcoffman.com/how-to-host-your-own-webcomic/

Not to say you should leave Drunk Duck, but you might want to setup a mirror this way or when you're ready to branch out on your own, there it is.

Also if you aren't comfortable with themeing wordpress there's a management system called Comic CMS you can use, it uses tags for its design much like Drunk Duck.

Comic CMS is the one I am using. It is much simpler to edit the html.

Word Press confused me when I tried to put my comic's web design onto it.

I use comic CMS too. It's incredibly easy to edit the templates with minimal knowledge of html and css; and it makes updating super easy.

Thanks for posting this DJ.

One of the very best self hosted/DD mirrored webcomic that I've seen here is Sakana No Sadness. He's structured things in such a way that all comments from DD and all comments from his self hosted site go into one single stream and whatever he posts in his author notes is mirrored on DD.

So you can comment on his site there or here and all comments go together.. -At least that's what it was like when I featured him earlier this year.

Doing it that way merges your audience and you don't feel the loneliness of being slef hosted or the audience fragmentation that comes with multiple hosting.

O_O How did he DO THAT?!

Crap… I hate pestering people about things in private message if I have not established rapport.

No freakin idea :)

The best way to contact him would probably be through e-mail I think- or some other way on his own site. seeing as it's mainly mirrored here he's more likely to check his own site stuff more frequently.

Don't always need a lotof $$… for about $130 a year I'm able to host a site on a fast server, with a unique ip and handle 5-6k hits/day with no lag or downtime… if you wanna know more just go to my site http://www.jaketheevilhare.com and click the hosting ad. I use them, and it's doing great for me.

As far as structure, I use wordpress with ComicPress, which I found easier to deal with than iStrip or ComicCMS.
