Chapter One -- Page Twenty Two
Dani Russo on Oct. 1, 2007
Oh, Penny…You're just not having a good day. Hips. Always getting in the way of stealthy getaways!
PS – the comic is already five months old, as of yesterday! (Where does time go?!) It'll be a year next month since I first started sitting down and plotting this thing out, inbetween working on lipsynchs & slamming my head on the desk of my old job. (The only thing I miss about working in animation is the steady paycheck.)
I'm abotu twenty pages behind where I thought I would be. but, I am promising you guys that I will AT LEAST have one page up per week from now on, if NOT all three updates (I will still be aiming for three, depending on my workload, though.)
Also – I know the style keeps shifting around. I admit, I'm still trying to find my way as a cartoonist, and find a method that really works, while trying to continually improve.
Things might look a little rough for a while (like the last page..which..eugh.), mainly because I am forcing myself to move away from the microns and towards nibs & brushpens. I am increasingly unhappy with how dead my micron lines look, and how much extra work has to be done to liven them up. (Aw, my instructors from college would be so proud. XD )
It hurts now, but hopefully things will look better in the long run!

Oops. Didn't even notice the date before. (seriously, who looks at post dates?) I saw this on Quail's random and got caught up in the story. I'm guessing there's little hope for continuation at this point?

Fenn is right. More Victorian female protagonists please! Late Victorian era is my favorite time period. And your drawings are awesome. Faving this.

sheer beauty, in both form and fancy. i do hope this sees more attention from the creator soon enough.

Update! ...Please?

Wow, how have I missed this story? Outstanding work. I can see where some might compare it to Girl Genius, but it is only a small superficial similarity in my opinion. There's room in the world for more than one Victorian female protagonist for cryin' out loud. :) Just finished catching up in the archives. This is getting fav'd.

Love it! Wow, you used to be an animator? Where did you go to school?

Grit your teeth and go! As choice of weapons go, I constantly jump around and have been known to ink with sponges, Q-tips, thumbs, and sticks I found in the yard. Your dedication shines through, Dani!

the blur effect in the last panel is really neat. Barrels... is that what they put rubbish in during the 19th century?

I tend to squish the ends of those micron pens flat, then it's increasingly hard to draw with them. I've kind of gone back to tech-pen type pens myself. Great page! I like the brush pen.

Wonderful new page, Dani.
